Television

Purchase/Installation
  • Larger TVs generally consume more energy. To find your ideal TV screen size (in inches), as a rule of thumb, divide your viewing distance (in cm) by 6.35.
  • Choose a TV model by using the tick rating system on the energy label. A 2-tick model may cost you about $25 more a year* in electricity bills as compared to a 5-tick model. The more ticks, the more energy efficient the model is.

*Based on electricity tariff of $0.27 per unit of electricity (kWh), assuming a 32" TV used 5 hours daily.

Usage

  • Switch off the TV set at the power socket when no one is watching. Turn off set-up boxes and modems when not in use.
