Standby Power

  • Design your power sockets to be within easy reach (e.g. waist or eye-level, unblocked by furniture) to facilitate turning off appliances at the socket after use.
  • Switch off home appliances (such as TVs, set top boxes and computers) at the power socket or unplug the appliance when not in use to eliminate standby power. Cut the standby power and save about $25 a year*.

*Based on electricity tariff of $0.27 per kWh.
